Energiekontor AG receives planning permission for large Greek wind farm Corporate-news announcement sent by DGAP. The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Energiekontor AG receives planning permission for one of the largest wind farms in Greece Bremen, 24th October 2001. Energiekontor AG is to construct one of the largest wind farms in Greece at Antirrio. With 17 wind power generators each producing an output of 1.5 Megawatts (MW), the wind farm in the Gulf of Corinth will produce a total output of 25.5 MW, enough electricity to supply 16,000 Greek homes. RAE, the regulation authority responsible has now granted the production permit required for this. This permit has been the crucial obstacle for the construction of wind farms since the liberalisation of the electricity market in Greece. It still requires confirmation by the minister responsible for such affairs. At the same time the RAE granted three other production consents for wind farms to be constructed by Energiekontor AG. One of these is in Epanosifi and has an output of 6.3 MW. Construction work there will begin as early as the first quarter of 2002. Another wind farm is in Profitis Ilias, which is to have an output of 0.6 MW. The third is in Zarax. Zarax I is already in operation but the new legal position following liberalisation made a subsequent production consent necessary to satisfy formal requirements. Roy Schwarzer, who looks after the Greek projects at Energiekontor is pleased to say that, “Now it can be seen that our patient work in setting things up outside Germany is bearing fruit.” He went on to say that, “Construction work began on our 18.2 Megawatt park in Trandeiras in Portugal on the 9th of October. Now we are able to chalk up another big success in Greece with the first project up and running”. If possible the size of the wind farm in Antirrio will be exceeded again even in the near future. Other applications for consent submitted by Energiekontor are being handled. The prospects for success are good. Likewise under review is the wind farm Gramvousa Hybrid on Crete. Its planned total output is 38 Megawatts. Contact: Martin Bretag, Director Investor Relations, Tel.: (+49-421) 3304-210 E-Mail: [email protected] end of message, (c)DGAP 24.10.2001
