Its total sales are the sum of the 4 sectors Connectivity (16.95 mill.DEM -up 9% above last year), E- commerce (8.99 mill.DEM -up 112% above last year), Advertising (8.51 mill.DEM – up 2% above last year) and B2B Services (3.14 mill.DEM). At 12.39 mill.DEM, third-quarter sales are on a par with Q2/01, despite the tense overall political and economic situation. Of the 12.39 mill.DEM in total sales, 5.03 mill.DEM were attributable to connectivity (Q2/01: 5.58 mill.DEM), 2.58 mill.DEM to advertising (Q2/01: 3.09 mill.DEM), 1.43 mill.DEM to B2B services (Q2/01: 793,000 DEM) and 3.35 mill.DEM to e-commerce (Q2/01: 3.02 mill.DEM). EBT was on target at -25.67 mill.DEM for the first 9 months of 2001 (-9.52 mill.DEM for the same period last year). This result primarily reflects an expansive customer growth strategy and the attendant expenditures on marketing and customer acquisition (25.97 mill.DEM). During Q3/01 the company experienced the strongest growth since its founding – freenet.de was able to grow its number of active dial-in customers by 430,000 (+21%) from 2.07 mill. (Q2/01) to 2.5 mill.(Q3/01). EBT amounts to -12.21 mill.DEM for Q3/01 (Q2/01: -6.66 mill.DEM). The group result for the Q3/01 came to -7.6 mill.DEM.
