Celanese AG Supervisory Board appoints future board of management Corporate-news announcement sent by DGAP. Weidman reappointed as board members – Andreas Pohlmann appointed as a member of the board and as director of personnel to succeed Ernst Schadow Kronberg, Germany – (CZZ: FSE; CZ: NYSE) The Supervisory Board of Celanese AG, Kronberg i. Ts., resolved in today’s meeting to extend Claudio Sonder’s appointment as Chairman of the Board of Management of Celanese AG until October 31, 2004. The Supervisory Board also extended the board appointments of the Chief Financial Officer Perry W. Premdas until October 31, 2004 and of the Chief Operating Officer David N. Weidman until October 31, 2005. Ernst Schadow, Chief Technology Officer and Director of Personnel at Celanese AG, will retire after more than 28 years of service to Hoechst and Celanese – 14 of which were as a member of the management board (Celanese 1999-2002) – when his board contract expires on October 22, 2002. Andreas Pohlmann (44) was appointed to the Celanese AG board of management as Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Personnel with effect from October 22, 2002 until October 31, 2005. Pohlmann studied law in Frankfurt and in Tuebingen, where he received his doctoral degree. He joined the Law Department of Hoechst AG in 1989, then worked in a variety of functions for Hoechst and Celanese – most recently as Corporate Secretary and Director of Corporate Services for Celanese AG. In addition to the function of Director of Personnel, his areas of responsibility on the board among others will also include Innovation, Celanese Ventures and Performance Products.
