The quoted venture capital company DEWB AG (Deutsche Effecten- und Wechsel- Beteiligungsgesellschaft) has acquired 15.38 percent of the shares in the firm of Laser Finishing Center AG. The start-up financing for the company which is based in Herzogenaurach is the second new investment by DEWB in the current business year. Laser Finishing Center AG (LFC) has developed a laser-aided process which provides for faster and lower cost processing of metallic surfaces. On the basis of this process LFC manufactures machines for surface finishing of steel moulds of every size. The heart of the process is a laser unit which comprises a diode-pumped laser, a scanner and a control unit. It is rounded off by software developed by the company itself which enables the work stages to be carried out in three dimensions. With the help of the LFC systems, the clients, for example manufacturers of computers and mobile telephones as well as the automotive industry, can to a considerable extent automate processing steps which were previously carried out exclusively on a manual basis. The advantages of the LFC laser system lie in the precision processing without causing damage to the moulds and being able to dispense with the costs for having to relocate the various stages of the work as was previously required. In addition, the finishing process offered by LFC is significantly more environmentally friendly since chemical processes are no longer required. Furthermore, the systems can be individually integrated into existing production cycles. All in all, numerous components can now be manufactured more quickly and at lower cost. This will enable clients to respond faster to market changes. The firm of Laser Finishing Center AG, founded in 2000, currently employs 20 personnel.
