The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– United Internet developing into highly profitable company EBT reaches EUR 30.1 million in 1st half of 2002 Montabaur, August 15, 2002. The first six months of fiscal 2002 proved an extremely successful period for United Internet. Consolidated sales of United Internet AG rose by over 27 percent to EUR 145.7 million. Earnings also made very encouraging progress: earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose from EUR 7.9 million (prior-year figure) to EUR 39.9 million. Pre-tax earnings (EBT) of the United Internet Group grew to EUR 30.1 million (prior year: EUR -14.1 million, incl. EUR 6.3 million goodwill write- downs). Both EBITDA and EBT were affected by extraordinary items in the first half of 2002, which had a net positive impact amounting to EUR 12.6 million. On the one hand, earnings include extraordinary income of EUR 19.5 million resulting from the sale of AdLINK stock to DoubleClick Inc. and the sale of a shareholding in Jobpilot to Adecco S.A.. On the other hand, AdLINK Internet Media AG incurred restructuring charges of EUR 6.9 million for the integration of DoubleClicks European media business. Without these once-only, extraordinary items the adjusted EBITDA figure amounts to EUR 27.3 million, while adjusted EBT totals EUR 17.5 million. Including these extraordinary items, earnings per share amount to EUR 0.47 (prior year: EUR -0.24). Without extraordinary items, adjusted earnings per share total EUR 0.20. As of June 30, 2002 the Group’s operative cash flow amounted to EUR 19.9 million (prior year: EUR 2.7 million).
