ELMOS: Upward Trend Continues Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– ELMOS: Upward Trend Continues According to preliminary results ELMOS Semiconductor AG (FSE: ELG) announced that based on unexpected high sales contribution in the fourth quarter of EUR 28.6 million, the net sales for the full year 2002 increased by 3% reaching EUR 109.7 million (FY 2001: EUR 107.0 million). The gross profit was approximately EUR 53.8 million (FY 2001: EUR 49.8 million) with the gross margin growing step by step from 46% in the first quarter to roughly 52% in the fourth quarter 2002. This resulted in an overall gross margin of 49% for the fiscal year 2002 (FY 2001: 47%). The expenditures for research and development stabilized at EUR 17.5 million or approximately 16% of sales (FY 2001: EUR 17.0 million or 16% of sales). The number of new development projects summed up to 32 design wins for the year 2002 (FY 2001: 27 design wins). The potential sales contribution based on these design wins accumulate to about EUR 230 million over project life cycles, securing the growth of the ELMOS group within its core business for the future. Overall the operating income ended up with EUR 18.3 million or 17% of sales for the year 2002 (FY 2001: EUR 17.0 million or 16% of sales). Therefore the operating income increased by EUR 1.3 million or 7% compared to the year before. The book-to-bill ratio reached approximately 1.10 within the fourth quarter 2002, which indicates a good first quarter 2003. As a result of the high number of projects entering volume production the company expects a growth of net sales of about 15% for the year 2003. The company will present the final results during its press conferences in Frankfurt and Dortmund as well as at the analyst meeting in Frankfurt on March 20th, 2003.
