Mr. Berchtold retired from the management of the main shareholder of secunet AG, Giesecke & Devrient GmbH, on 31 October 2004, in order to join the management board of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. Until the election of a new chairman, the affairs of the supervisory board will be directed by the vice-chairman, Dr. Wilhelm Wick.
