Ludwig Beck am Rathauseck: Increase in Turnover in the first Quarter 2005

The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. —————————————————————————— Increase in Turnover in the first Quarter 2005 – Significant Increase in Turnover in the Month of March Munich, April 8, 2005 – LUDWIG BECK (ISIN DE0005199905) closed the first quarter 2005 showing a plus in turnover compared to the first 3 months 2004. Gross turnover within the Group increased to 21.9 (last year 21.7) million EUR. This is an increase in turnover of 0.9 % compared to the same period 2004. According to TextilWirtschaft the textile retail business will presumably have to bear a decrease in turnover of 2.0 % in the same period. While the general situation in retail business is still affected by a restraint in consumption, LUDWIG BECK could – due to its own positive development – successfully continue to distance from the general trend in the textile and clothing market. The reserved demand at the beginning of the year was compensated by a strong business in March. Sales of last year could be beaten by 6.7 % in this month. This positive result in March is the more remarkable as there had been two days less for sales. In our flagship store Marienplatz the Easter season and an emotionally presented campaign “Japanese Cherry Blossom Feast” provided a high customer frequency, huge satisfaction of our customers and enjoyable sales. In April a two-weeks value-for-money campaign themed “Gruener wird’s nicht” shall contribute to continue the positive development at LUDWIG BECK also in the second quarter 2005.
