United Internet plans further repurchase of its own shares

After completing the share buyback decided on May 23, 2006, the Management Board of United Internet AG (Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, ISIN: DE 000 508 903 1) today resolved to buy back a further up to 5,000,000 company shares (representing approx. 2.00% of capital stock) via the stock exchange. The resolution follows the authorization of the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting of June 13, 2006 to buy back up to 10% of the company’s capital stock. The authorization was issued for the period up to December 12, 2007. From May 23, 2006 to August 11, 2006 United Internet AG bought back a total of 8,000,000 shares and thus completely exhausted the Management Board resolution of May 23, 2006. This resolution was based on an authorization of the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting of May 18, 2005 to buy back up to 10% of the company’s capital stock. The authorization was issued for the period up to November 17, 2006. The shares were purchased for an average price of EUR 9.649. The total purchase price thus amounted to around EUR 77.2 million. The repurchased shares are to be used for current and future employee stock ownership plans and/or as an acquisition currency.
