Bilfinger Berger AG: negative impact on earnings in the Civil business
segment; EBITA and net profit 2008 nevertheless above prior year
Based on a current report, the Executive Board of Bilfinger Berger has, on
July 28, 2008, adjusted the earnings forecast for the Civil business
segment. According to current estimates, the Company expects a loss of €90
million from the Norwegian transport infrastructure project E18, being
carried out by a joint venture under the leadership of Bilfinger Berger.
The risk provision of €25 million set up as of December 31, 2007 must
therefore be increased by €65 million in the current financial year. For
this reason, an earnings contribution of only €15 million is anticipated
from the Civil segment in 2008. Until now, an improvement on the previous
year’s result (€58 million) had been planned.
With a strong increase in the earnings contribution of the Services
business segment, Bilfinger Berger still expects that both EBITA and net
profit in financial year 2008 will be above the previous year’s figures.
The company anticipates an EBITA of about €260 million (prior year: €242
million) and net profit of about €140 million (prior year: €134 million).
