STRATEC Biomedical Systems AG, Birkenfeld, Germany, has generated great
interest within the framework of its trade fair activities at the Annual
Meeting of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) currently
being held in Washington D.C., USA. A particularly warm reception has been
granted to the recently presented concept for the label-free detection of
immuno-biological processes. Based on a new ultramodern label-free
detection technology, these systems will be developed for the diagnostics
and pharmaceuticals industry in cooperation with two other technology
partners. The distinctive feature of these systems is that they provide
reliable, high-quality results for laboratories and industry at
substantially reduced cost.

The AACC, viewed as the most important congress and trade fair event for
the diagnostics industry worldwide, also provides the backdrop for the
market launch of a newly developed fully automated system solution. Based
on an EIA platform, the 'GEMINI' analyzer system has been designed for
complete microplate processes for laboratories with low throughput rates.
The systems will be marketed by distributors on a worldwide basis under the
'STRATEC' brand.

Presented for the first time, 'PURE' a new fully automated magnetic bead
system for nucleic acid purification in diagnostic applications, has
created great interest.
