SUSS MicroTec AG: Supervisory Board Appoints Frank P. Averdung as New Chief
Executive Officer

Munich, Germany, November 25, 2008. As announced by SUSS MicroTec AG
(business address: Schleissheimer Straße 90, 85748 Garching, Germany; ISIN:
DE0007226706), which is listed in the Prime Standard of Deutsche Börse AG,
the Supervisory Board has appointed Mr. Frank P. Averdung to the Management
Board of SUSS MicroTec AG. Mr. Averdung has accepted the appointment to the
Management Board of the company effective today and will thus assume the
office of Chief Executive Officer on June 1, 2009. An attempt is being made
to have him assume office earlier.

Mr. Averdung is currently the Managing Director of Carl Zeiss SMS GmbH (SMS
– Semiconductor Metrology Systems), Jena, a company that has specialized in
the inspection and repair of photo masks for the semiconductor industry.
Other important positions held by this Master of Electrical Engineering
during his professional career include various Managing Director and/or
General Manager positions with equipment manufacturers such as NaWoTec
GmbH, ETEC Systems and Applied Materials.

His significant achievements in the various positions of his professional
career have included increasing the efficiency of the current business and
opening up new business segments. In particular, Mr. Averdung has had an
extremely strong impact on the strategic development of the respective
companies or divisions.
