Genolier Swiss Medical Network has appointed Laurent Bertrand as the new Managing Director of Clinique de Genolier, hereby replacing Gwynn Brand who joins the Board of Directors of the establishment after having managed it successfully for 13 years. The new Managing Director Laurent Bertrand will start his function on March, 1st, 2009 and will pursue the development of the hospital as well as its regional integration.

Specialised in hospital management and holder of a Master in Management, Laurent Bertrand, age 42, has been active in the health care sector for about 13 years. Before joining Clinique de Genolier, Laurent Bertrand managed the Clinique La Lignière (Gland) for 8 years. Under his management, this hospital obtained a HPH (Health Promoting Hospital) label as well as several ISO certificates of which an ecological label.

La Clinique de Genolier, the only acute healthcare hospital between Lausanne and Geneva, offers an excellent medical, technical and hotel environment to both regional and international patients. With more than 150 licensed doctors, Genolier is mainly active in Orthopaedics, Oncology, Cardiology and General Surgery. All ambulatory care is accessible to all patients and covered by the basic insurance. The hospital owns state-of-the-art equipments notably in Radiology and in Radiotherapy. The radio-oncology department of the hospital recently inaugurated its new linear accelerator Varian and also proposes brachytherapy as a cure for prostate cancers.

During the last few years, numerous physicians joined the medical team of Clinique de Genolier, which plans to pursue in that direction. Genolier’s success is based on developing strong collaborations between the hospital and the independent doctors who benefit from an optimal work environment to care for their patients.

Clinique de Genolier is the first employer of the region with about 250 employees and co-workers. The hospital has known a strong development since its takeover in 2002, with a turnover increasing from CHF 45 million to CHF 70 million this year. The hospital’s potential remains important and the new Managing Director will particularly develop the regional activity and pursue the integration of Genolier in the sanitary network. The next opening of the secured medical residence ‘Les Hauts de Genolier’ will complete the service offering and create approximately 50 new jobs.
