HMS Bergbau AG: Opening Indian office
▲ Further step on internationalization track
▲ Office in Mumbai
▲ Participation in demand for coal imports
Berlin, November 5, 2009: HMS Bergbau AG, is an international coal trading
group with operating expertise in coal production, logistics and trading.
Today the company announced that it is expanding its international trading
activities into Mumbai, India. The company has opened an office in Mumbai
with its local partner Growell Resources & Management Pvt. Ltd. Growell was
established in 1992 by Ashok Ghandi and has been trading commodities,
chemicals and fertilizers successfully since then. The objective of the
cooperation is to facilitate imports to India and to offer superior
customer service on the ground. Borth companies are able to contribute
their extensive expertise to the cooperation. While Growell is contributing
its extensive network of large-scale customers and the SME sector in India,
HMS Bergbau in particular is offering its know-how in coal sourcing from
Indonesia and South Africa as well as international logistics. Both parties
are confident that together they will be able to participate to a much
greater extent in the fastest growing coal import market.
'Global steam coal trade has quadrupled in the past 30 years and is
currently seeing annual growth rates of between five and nine percent.
India is developing into one of the largest coal importers worldwide.
Despite high domestic production, India is a net coal importer because of
its own energy consumption and in the past few years has had to increase
coal import volumes considerably. We believe that this trend in the world's
second most populous country will continue in the coming years. This is
mainly due to India's mounting demand for electricity,' explains Heinz
Schernikau, CEO of HMS Bergbau AG.
