HMS Bergbau AG and P.T. Nusa Alam Lestari deepen their cooperation in
Indonesia
Berlin, July 26, 2010: HMS Bergbau AG and P.T. Nusa Alam Lestari (NAL) have
further deepened their exclusive marketing cooperation for exports of high
and mid calorific value coal from Sumatra, Indonesia. This is another
important milestone for the business activities of HMS Group in Asia.
The companies agreed to extend their long-term and exclusive cooperation to
include NAL's new mine developments Muara Bungo and Sinarma. HMS has
committed financial resources in an undisclosed amount to assist NAL's mine
development plan to further increase production capacity. HMS and NAL have
already signed a long-term supply agreement for a 6500kcal/kg gad coal. NAL
will use the funds to develop their 6300 gad, 5800 gad and 5500 gad low
moisture coal mines which are expected to start production in the second
half of this year. All produced coal will be marketed by HMS under the
brand name 'NAL-HMS'.
'HMS looks forward to continue working with NAL and we are happy to have
found such a reliable and professional partner in Sumatra to develop both
our businesses on the basis of trust and mutual respect,' says Heinz
Schernikau, CEO of HMS Bergbau AG. NAL is owned and managed by Mr.
Bakhrial, a respected entrepreneur with roots in the timber industry. 'With
this new agreement, NAL is able to focus on what it is best at, increase
and improve the production of our high quality coal products in Sumatra.
NAL and HMS share the same, family driven, philosophy and we are very happy
to have tied up long-term with HMS Bergbau AG, a very reputable and
experienced coal marketing company,' says Mr. Bakhrial.
