Changes in GEA Group's Supervisory Board
Düsseldorf, April 21, 2011 – GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft's Annual General Meeting today elected the shareholder representatives to the Company's Supervisory Board. Ahmad Bastaki, Dieter Ammer, Hartmut Eberlein, Dr. Jürgen Heraeus, and Dr. Helmut Perlet were reelected for a further 5-year term of office. In addition, Jean E. Spence, Wilmette/Illinois, U.S.A., Executive Vice President of Research, Development & Quality at Kraft Foods Global, Inc., was appointed as a new Supervisory Board member. She replaces Dr. Dietmar Kuhnt, who had been a member of the group's Supervisory Board since January 10, 1995 and did not stand for reelection.
'I would like to thank Dr. Kuhnt for our trust-based working relationship and his many years of hard work for GEA Group. His considerable knowledge made him a valuable member of the Supervisory Board for many years. At the same time, I am delighted that we are welcoming Jean E. Spence – an internationally recognized expert in food process technology – as a new member of the Supervisory Board,' said Dr. Jürgen Heraeus, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft.
The existing employee representatives Rainer Gröbel, Klaus Hunger, Michael Kämpfert, Kurt-Jürgen Löw, and Reinhold Siegers were appointed as Supervisory Board members at the end of the Annual General Meeting by way of a decision by the Bochum Local Court. The court appointments are valid until the election of the employee representatives, which is due to be held in September 2011. Eva-Maria Kerkemeier, First Authorized Representative of IG Metall Herne, was also appointed by the court. She replaces Joachim Stöber, who has left the Supervisory Board. Mr. Stöber joined the Supervisory Board on September 16, 2005 and had previously been a member of the former GEA AG's Supervisory Board since 1990. The Executive Board and Supervisory Board would like to thank Mr. Stöber for their trust-based and good working relationship over many years.
Dr. Heraeus was again elected Chairman of the Supervisory Board at the constituent meeting of the new Supervisory Board following the Annual General Meeting. Mr. Eberlein will chair the Audit Committee in future.
