ELMOS Semiconductor AG: Sensor signal readout IC with SENT interface
ELMOS Semiconductor AG / Key word(s): Products/Innovation/

E520.33 has been conceived for next generation automotive control devices
With the E520.33, ELMOS introduces a sensor signal readout chip with a SENT interface. The digital SENT interface enables the chip's use in next generation automotive control devices. The semiconductor is qualified according to AEC-Q100 and supports virtually any resistive sensor bridge.
The configurable sensor signal readout electronics provide the following functions: sensor signal amplification, digital compensation and linearization for sensor signals, and sensor and self diagnostics. Configuration and calibration are saved in the integrated EEPROM.
Among other applications, the E520.33 is suited for use in connection with piezoresistive MEMS, thin and thick film sensors applied to ceramics or steel, and strain gauges. Measured data may include pressure, strain, applied load, and torque. Accordingly, the sensor can be used for processing data supplied by the a/c system or other automotive applications, such as breaking system, emission control, or tank fill level/internal pressure.
A programmable amplifier makes input voltages between 3 to 400 mV possible. In addition, a sensor offset of up to +/-250% full scale (FS) can be compensated. The E520.33 features a separate temperature measuring channel with four sensor options: on-chip, bridge resistor, external diode, and external resistor. Thus all potential sources for temperature measurement can be integrated and recorded continuously totally independent of pressure measuring.
The component supports SENT according to SAE J2716 draft rev. 3 and is supplied as bare die or in a TSSOP20 4.4 package. Samples and evaluation boards are available.
