ELMOS Semiconductor AG: ELMOS introduces flexible digital PIR controller circuit

E931.97 for energy-optimized and reliable operation

With the E931.97, ELMOS presents a controller for single-chip passive
infrared (PIR) motion detection sensors. The ELMOS IC integrates all
functions for digital signal processing (DSP). As no additional external
circuit is required, the E931.97 saves costs and installation space.

The integrated 15 bit ADC converts the output signal of a conventional PIR
detector directly into a digital signal for subsequent signal processing.
Due to the high-impedance differential input, up to 2 detectors can be
plugged in.

The E931.97 has inputs for daylight sensor, signal threshold, and load duty
cycle. An LED output gives a signal if the PIR signal exceeds the selected
thresholds. The switching output signals motion detection or rather alarm
status. The cut-off delay can be adjusted from 2s to more than 1h. The
integrated shunt regulator enables the use of the E931.97 in systems
lacking regulated voltage supply.

Applications range from PIR motion detector sensors, alarm systems and
presence detectors up to traffic light systems and many more fields of use.

The ELMOS chip is specially designed for energy-optimized and reliable
operation. The chip has very low power consumption, is extremely low-noise
and immune to high frequency interferences. The operating temperature is
between -20°C and +85°C. The E931.97 is supplied in a TSSOP14 or an SOIC14.
