Notification of voting rights pursuant to § 21 Abs. 1 WpHG

Issuer: BASF SE, Carl-Bosch-Straße 38, 67056 Ludwigshafen, Germany

On June 20, 2013, we received the following notification pursuant to § 21
para 1 WpHG:

On June 19, 2013, the percentage holding of the voting rights of the State
of Norway, represented by the Ministry of Finance, Oslo, Norway, in BASF SE
exceeded the threshold of 3 % and amounts to 3.02 % (27715437 voting
rights) on that day. These voting rights (27715437 voting rights) are held
by Norges Bank (the Central Bank of Norway), Oslo, Norway, and are
attributed to the State of Norway pursuant to § 22 para 1 sentence 1 no. 1
WpHG.
