According to preliminary figures, Aurubis AG generated operating earnings
before taxes (EBT) of EUR -2.5 million in the first quarter of the current
fiscal year 2013/14 based on operating earnings as defined by Aurubis. The
result after the first quarter of the previous fiscal year was EUR 140
million, which included positive extraordinary effects of EUR 65 million.

The large-scale shutdown in Hamburg, the weak copper scrap markets
resulting in a lower metal yield and the poor sulfuric acid markets
strained earnings in the first quarter of fiscal year 2013/14.

IFRS earnings before taxes (EBT) in the first quarter of fiscal year
2013/14 amount to EUR -73 million according to preliminary figures (first
quarter of the previous year: EUR 13 million).
