Notification of voting rights pursuant to § 21 para 1 WpHG

Issuer: BASF SE, Carl-Bosch-Straße 38, 67056 Ludwigshafen, Germany

On May 20, 2014, we received the following notification pursuant to § 21
para 1 WpHG:

On May 19, 2014, the percentage holding of the voting rights of the State
of Norway, represented by the Ministry of Finance, Oslo, Norway, in BASF SE
exceeded the threshold of 3 % through acquisition and amounts indirectly to
3.14 % (28813260 voting rights) on that day. These voting rights (28813260
voting rights) are attributed from Norges Bank to the State of Norway
pursuant to § 22 para 1 sentence 1 no. 1 WpHG.
