INDUS subsidiaries invest in business expansion
– OFA Bamberg acquires facility in Glauchau
– SELZER takes over 100% of Brazilian subsidiary
Bergisch Gladbach, 19 January 2015 – At the beginning of the year, INDUS subsidiary OFA Bamberg GmbH expanded its business activities and acquired a production facility of ESDA GmbH in Glauchau, Saxony, where a modern production plant for textile products was built up in 1995. In the course of 2014, the parent company of ESDA, DAUN & Cie. AG, had decided to give up the location and close the plant. OFA has acquired the plant with a view to relocating production from Eastern Europe and expects the Saxon production facility to allow it to respond more swiftly to changing market conditions and to further slash delivery times.
OFA Bamberg is a manufacturer of medical compression stockings, bandages and orthoses as well as preventive healthcare products such as support and travel stockings. The company’s product range also includes special stockings for athletes and diabetics. The products are distributed primarily through specialist medical retailers and pharmacies. The company is a member of the INDUS Group since 2000.
Towards the end of the year, INDUS subsidiary SELZER Fertigungstechnik, Driedorf, acquired the remaining 10% minority interest in Selzer Automotiva do Brasil. This will allow the Brazilian operations to be integrated more closely into the German parent company. The former minority shareholder, Albert Rempel, established the Brazilian company together with SELZER Fertigungstechnik in Vinhedo near Sao Paulo. Since 2005, the company has primarily produced gear parts for the domestic truck market.
Employing some 570 people, SELZER Fertigungstechnik, Driedorf, produces components and assemblies for gearboxes, braking systems and engines, mainly for customers from the automotive industry. The company has been a member of the INDUS Group since 2005.
