Dr. Helmut Perlet new Chairman of GEA’s Supervisory Board
Düsseldorf, April 20, 2016 – Today, the Annual General Meeting of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft elected the new shareholder representatives to the Company’s Supervisory Board. Ahmad Bastaki, Prof. Dr. Ing. Werner Bauer, Hartmut Eberlein, Dr. Helmut Perlet as well as Jean E. Spence were re-elected for another 5-year term of office. In addition, Dr. Molly P. Zhang, Vice President at ORICA Ltd., USA, was appointed to the Supervisory Board as a new member.
Dr. Jürgen Heraeus, who had held the position of Supervisory Board Chairman since June 3, 2003, did not stand for re-election. At the constitutive meeting of the new Supervisory Board held immediately after the Annual General Meeting, Dr. Helmut Perlet was elected new Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The graduate of business administration (“Diplom-Kaufmann”) with a doctoral degree, who also qualified as a chartered tax advisor, has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Allianz SE since 2012. Prior to that, Dr. Perlet had been a member of the Board of Management of the insurer for a period of 12 years. Moreover, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of Commerzbank AG.

He has contributed greatly to GEA’s remarkable transformation into an extremely healthy and successful company”, said Dr. Helmut Perlet, the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft. “At the same time, I am happy to welcome Dr. Zhang as a new Supervisory Board member who will bring to bear her international and operational experience.”
On the employees’ side, the incumbent members of the Supervisory Board Rainer Gröbel, Michael Kämpfert, Eva-Maria Kerkemeier, Brigitte Krönchen, Kurt-Jürgen Löw and Reinhold Siegers were appointed to the Supervisory Board with effect from the close of this year’s Annual General Meeting by virtue of an order issued by the Düsseldorf Local Court on April 4, 2016. These court appointments shall apply until the election of the employee representatives that is expected to take place in September 2016.
