mutares AG (ISIN: DE000A0SMSH2) made a binding offer to acquire the truck supplying business of the Plastic Omnium Group. mutares thus creates a world leading truck supplier for cabin components with a total turnover of approximately EUR 400m and 2,700 employees in 15 plants.

The truck supplying business of the Plastic Omnium Group consists of five plants in France, two in China and respectively one plant in Germany and Mexico with more than 1,500 employees in total. In 2015, the plants generated a turnover of EUR 190m with exterior components and modules for truck cabins. All major European truck manufacturers belong to the customer base. The plants are located in direct proximity to its customers.

Combined with STS and the recent acquisition of the two plants of the Mecaplast Group, mutares creates a global truck supplier for cabin components with a total turnover of approximately EUR 400m and 2,700 employees in 15 plants. The new group will have locations in France, Italy, Germany, Poland, China and Mexico. The products complement each other and allow a variety of synergies and cross-selling opportunities.

The binding offer is being studied by Plastic Omnium. In accordance with the French law, the offer is submitted to the works council for their position.

Besides the expected dynamic organic growth of the new group, mutares works on further add-on acquisitions in the truck supplier industry in order to take over a leading role in the consolidation of the market. Thus, mutares follows stringently the Buy & Build approach, which significantly influences the sustainable development of the portfolio as well as the achievement of mutares’ ambitious growth targets.
