The Rockwool Group intends to close the smallest of its two Hungarian factories

The Rockwool Group has the intention to close the smallest of its two Hungarian factories by the end of the year. Market development in Hungary and neighbouring countries has weakened somewhat, giving the Rockwool Group the opportunity to rationalise its Hungarian factory setup and improve overall production cost and investment in Hungary.

The factory which we intend to close is placed in Goganfa in the western part of Hungary. It is relatively small with a yearly capacity of 30,000 tonnes. The Rockwool Group operates another factory in Tapolca only 30 kilometres from Goganfa and this factory is significantly larger, more modern and more cost-efficient.

Due to the short distance between the two factories, it is expected that a part of the labour force from Goganfa can be relocated to the Tapolca factory.
