CPH close to passenger record

As many as 21,501,750 passengers used Copenhagen Airport in 2010, which was 9.1% more than in 2009. This was only some 28,000 fewer passengers than Copenhagen Airport's passenger record in 2008. On one of the last days of the year, Copenhagen Airport served its 600 millionth passenger.

The total number of passengers at Copenhagen Airport in 2010 ended at 21,501,750, only 28,266 passengers below the airport's 2008 passenger record.

"Without the ash cloud in April when we missed out on some 350,000 passengers, or the severe winter weather affecting a number of Airports, which resulted in cancellations of many flights to a number of European and US destinations, we would undoubtedly have reached a passenger record. It was particularly pleasing that despite the severe snow conditions in December, Copenhagen Airport remained open," said Carsten Nørland, VP for Sales and Marketing at Copenhagen Airports, adding:

"The growth rate of 9.1% placed Copenhagen Airport among the European airports recording the highest growth in the past year. The strong growth in domestic traffic and our new intercontinental routes place us in a strong position going forward."

Strong performance in December

The total number of passengers at Copenhagen Airport rose by 9.8% in December to reach 1,515,662. This was despite Copenhagen Airport being impacted by cancellations from other Airports during the recent severe snow conditions across Europe. International traffic rose by 8.7% in December, domestic traffic by 18.2%, and the number of transfer passengers by 8.8%.

Moreover, on 27 December, Copenhagen Airport served its 600 millionth passenger since the airport opened in 1925.
