Copenhagen Airport reached a monthly record again in September, the sixth time
this year, when more than 2.1 million passengers travelled through the airport.
The year-to-date growth rate was 6.6%.
The total passenger number of 2,101,596 made September the seventh busiest
month ever in the 86-year history of Copenhagen Airport, the year-on-year
growth rate for September being 4.1%.
“Locally departing international passengers continued to show the highest
growth rate. And when we look at the underlying passenger mix, we can see that
people in Denmark continue to travel a lot, but that Denmark must attract more
incoming passengers in the longer term to continue to generate growth,” said
Carsten Nørland, VP, Sales and Marketing for Copenhagen Airports A/S.
The number of international passengers rose by 5.5%, whilst domestic traffic
was down by 6.5%. Domestic traffic showed a year-to-date decline of a mere
0.1%. Overall, more than 17.3 million passengers used Copenhagen Airport during
the first eight months of the year, about 1.1 million more than last year,
equivalent to a growth rate of 6.6%.
London continued to be at the top of the Top 10 list ahead of Stockholm and
Oslo, while Brussels and Berlin were new on the list as compared with August.
