Copenhagen Airport's hub position continued to be strengthened

International traffic continued to drive growth at Copenhagen Airport in October, contributing to October passenger numbers topping the 2.1 million mark, a 2.3% year-on-year improvement. The yearto-date increase in passenger numbers was 3.0%.

International traffic at Copenhagen Airport grew 4.1% in October, while transfer traffic was up by 8.1%. The total number of passengers at in October at Copenhagen Airport was 2,101,931.

The year-to-date increase in international traffic was 11.1%, and the number of Nordic, Baltic and Polish passengers transferring to intercontinental routes grew by 12.6%.

"If we look to Europe, we outperformed each of the transport hubs Amsterdam, Paris, London, Brussels, Zurich and Munich. In other words, we've strengthened our position as a transport hub, which plays a big role for the accessibility to and from Denmark, and to the Danish economy," said Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airport.

The fall in domestic traffic levelled off as compared with the trend earlier in the year, as SAS, Norwegian and DAT have by now filled the gap after the bankruptcy of Cimber Sterling. The shortfall in October was almost 30,000 domestic passengers, equivalent to a 14.1% drop.

The year-to-date number of passengers was 19.9 million, equivalent to an increase of 3.0%. The increase in passenger numbers led to an improvement of the general load factor on flights.
