Lack of leap day prevented passenger record

Passenger numbers at Copenhagen Airport for February were down by 1.6%, but the decline was solely caused by the fact that last year was a leap year. Adjusted for the lack of the 29th day of February this year, passenger figures for the month actually represent a 2% increase.

A total of 1,994,715 passengers passed through Copenhagen Airport in February. A comparison with the first 28 days of last year shows that this represents a 2% year-on-year increase.

"If we look at the first two months of the year, the number of international passengers grew by 1.1%, which is in line with our expectations. Domestic traffic continues to be substantially below last year's level, which underlines that Danish domestic routes still need to be strengthened, partly by adding more frequencies," said Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airport.

A look at the traffic statistics of Copenhagen Airport shows that the two latest February records were in 2008 and 2012, which were both leap years.
