Traffic in line with expectations

Close to 1.9 million passengers travelled through Copenhagen Airport in March. The early Easter this year resulted in a minor 0.4% year-on-year decline, which was expected.

Easter was earlier this year than in 2012, which meant that there were a number of "low-travel" days in March this year. For this reason, it was expected that passenger numbers would show a largely neutral trend.

"As always, it is impossible to compare March to the year before as Easter falls on different dates from year to year. However, traffic showed a positive trend before Easter week, which bodes well for the next few months," said Thomas Woldbye, CEO of Copenhagen Airport.

International traffic was up by 2.3%, continuing the positive trend: Copenhagen Airport has now recorded growth on its international routes for the past 35 consecutive months. The last time CPH recorded a decline was in April 2010, when traffic was affected by the volcanic ash cloud. Domestic traffic was still substantially below last year's level due to the bankruptcy of Cimber Sterling in May 2012.

Year-to-date, traffic was down by 0.7%.
