Aurubis AG Supervisory Board approves the construction of a new recycling plant in the US
Hamburg, November 10, 2021 – In its extraordinary meeting today, the Aurubis AG Supervisory Board approved the construction of a new multimetal recycling plant in Augusta (Richmond County) in the US state of Georgia. At the same time, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding extensive economic support measures was signed between Aurubis and the relevant US governmental authorities. Construction will start in summer 2022. Commissioning of the recycling plant “Aurubis Richmond, USA” is scheduled for the first half of 2024. Around 90,000 t of complex, metal-bearing recycling materials will be processed.
The Group expects Aurubis Richmond to generate an annual contribution to earnings of € 80 million EBITDA at full production capacity starting in fiscal year 2025/26.
The planned investment for Aurubis Richmond amounts to approximately € 300 million, which is being fully financed from the Group’s current cash flow.
