Announcement on setting of capital requirement for other systemically important institutions for Komerční banka
Prague, 6 October 2021 - Komerční banka, a.s., with its registered office at Na Příkopě 33/969, 114 07 Prague 1, registration No. 45317054, entered in the register of companies maintained with the Metropolitan Court of Prague, section B, file No.1360 (hereinafter also Komerční banka or KB), announces that
KB received an order from the Czech National Bank (CNB) on setting an additional capital requirement for Komerční banka, due to its designation as Other-systemically important institution (O-SII) and on cancelling of the systemic risk capital buffer requirement, applied previously.
According to this decision, Komerční banka is required with effect from 1 October 2021 to maintain a capital buffer for O-SII at the level of 2.0% of the consolidated volume of risk weighted assets. The requirement to maintain a capital buffer for systemic risk, that had been set at 3.0% since 3 August 2016, was cancelled.
The decision of the CNB follows transposition of Directive (EU) 2019/878 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 May 2019 (Capital Requirements Directive V) into the Czech law. The CNB has further means available to adapt individual components of capital requirements for banks under its supervision. Komerční banka will continue in its capital planning to apply prudent assumptions about the future development of regulatory capital requirements.
