SW Umwelttechnik subsidiary OMS Hungaria has simultaneously won major orders, each worth EUR 6 million (m), for the Group's Engineering sector, in Hungary and Romania.

A consortium led by OMS Hungaria has won the order to supply a sewerage system for the municipality of Örbottyán, Hungary. OMS Hungaria, in which SW Umwelttechnik holds a 70% interest, is the Hungarian market leader in municipal wastewater treatment plants.

The project involves laying about 90km of sewer mains and 30km of pressurised pipelines, as well as constructing 60 pumping stations. OMS Hungaria's share of the EUR 20m contract as lead contractor amounts to about 30%. Work is to begin immediately and completion is scheduled for June 2010. At almost exactly the same time OMS Hungaria won a EUR 6m contract for the rehabilitation and expansion of the sewerage and drinking water networks in Zalau, Romania. Work on the order, placed by Somes Water, is to begin at once and completion is due by the end of 2010. These orders should enable SW Umwelttechnik to extend its market leadership, and ensure that the Engineering sector enjoys good capacity utilisation through 2009.

The group is widely identified with sustainable enterprise and rapid expansion in Central and Southeastern Europe (CSE). Its innovative environmental technology products are contributing to infrastructure renewal in CSE.
