Paris, 22 January 2009 – EuropaCorp can confirm the success of its films on the international market following the publication of a report on the export of French films in 2008 by UniFrance.
Two EuropaCorp productions are included amongst the four top ranking films based on the number of admissions for exported French films in 2008, a record-breaking year for French cinema (78 million admissions in foreign cinemas). These films are Taken, which was distributed in 23 countries and had totalled 8.8 million admissions excluding France by 31 December 2008 and Transporter 3, which totalled 7.3 million cinemagoers in only 7 foreign countries.
We recall that EuropaCorp won the first and third place in this ranking in 2007 with Arthur and the Invisibles and Taxi 4.
In addition, Tell No One, a EuropaCorp coproduction directed in a French format, has totalled almost 1 million admissions in 7 countries excluding France.
Transporter 3 has since been released in more than 30 countries and is now the latest smash hit with foreign audiences totalling almost 11 million admissions worldwide (excluding France) by 20 January 2009 and has thus overtaken the best French film in the UniFrance 2008 ranking.
With development in the international markets as one of the major focuses of EuropaCorp's marketing policy, these figures prove the success of this strategy, which, in addition to the strong reputation the Group holds abroad, enables it to attract prestigious international talent and to work with distributors from around the world.
Following on from these hits, EuropaCorp can confirm that shooting has finished for From Paris With Love directed by Pierre Morel starring John Travolta and I love you Phillip Morris directed by John Requa & Glenn Ficarra with Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor.
