EuropaCorp joins the Cité du Cinéma due to open in 2012

  • EuropaCorp joint investor in the film studios with a maximum investment of 6 million euros
  • The group's headquarters to move to Saint Denis by 2012

Paris, 11 June 2009 – Following the agreement between the different partners involved in the Cité du Cinéma announced earlier today, EuropaCorp would like to congratulate everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition and confirms its own involvement in two different aspects of the project.

On the one hand, EuropaCorp will join with Euro Media Group and Quinta Communications within the 'Studios de Paris', a structure comprising a total of 9 film sets, each of which is between 600 and 2,200 m2 , within the Cité du Cinéma complex. EuropaCorp will be a minority shareholder in the company operating the studios, for which the construction costs are estimated at 30 million euros. The Group's commitment in terms of investment will not exceed 6 million euros. The Euro Media Group, which owns several film studios throughout Europe, will contribute its expertise to the operation of the 'Studios de Paris'.

One the other hand, EuropaCorp has signed a lease with the Nef Lumière, owner of the tertiary complex which will house the offices of the future Cité du Cinéma. EuropaCorp will therefore have at its disposal the space for it to assemble in one place the EuropaCorp permanent staff, the film crews which are put together on a film-by-film basis as well as extra space for any potential new activities and all of this for the same price as EuropaCorp's current rent.

With the launch of the Cité du Cinéma, EuropaCorp is delighted to see after such a long wait the birth of a tool for the film industry which will enable the Group to rationalize and improve its production process, and to have at its disposal studios with a technical level on par with the major European film studios.
