Proposed demerger of South Africa thermal coal operations - Publication of combined pre-listing statement and prospectus

Further to the announcement made earlier today regarding the proposed demerger of Thungela Resources Limited ("Thungela") from Anglo American plc ("Anglo American"), the combined pre-listing statement and prospectus in relation to the proposed primary listing of Thungela's shares on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (the "JSE") and standard listing on the London Stock Exchange has been approved by both the JSE and the UK Financial Conduct Authority and has been published by Thungela.

The combined pre-listing statement and prospectus is now available on Anglo American's website (www.angloamerican.com) and Thungela's website (www.thungela.com). It will also shortly be available for inspection on the UK National Storage Mechanism (https://data.fca.org.uk/#/nsm/nationalstoragemechanism).
