Aéroports de Paris December 2010 traffic figures

Passenger traffic

In December 2010, passenger traffic at Aéroports de Paris decreased by 1.4% compared to December 2009. Paris airports handled a total of 6.2 million passengers, including 4.3 million at Paris-Charles de Gaulle (-2.2%) and 1.9 million at Paris-Orly (+0.5%).

Traffic in December was affected by heavy snowfalls over France and Europe (in particular on 8 and 9 December, and between 17 and 25 December). Aéroports de Paris estimates that without these snowfalls, passenger volumes would have increased by 2.1% in December.

  • International traffic (excluding Europe) increased by 2.4%. All destinations recorded an increase, except for Latin America (-3.4%). Asia-Pacific came first, and grew by 7.6%, followed by the Middle East (+6.6%), the French Overseas Departments and Territories (+3.6%), North America (+1.6%), and Africa (+0.1%).
  • European traffic (excluding France) dropped by 4.6%, the Schengen area by 3.3%, and Great Britain and Ireland by 16.8%.
  • Traffic within France decreased by 2.8%.
  • The number of connecting passengers decreased by 8.2%, resulting in a connecting rate of 22.7% against 24.5% in December 2009.

Over the year 2010, passenger traffic grew by 0.4% compared to the same period last year. The number of connecting passengers declined by 5.7%, resulting in a connecting rate of 23.2% against 24.7% for the year 2009.

Aircraft movements

The number of aircraft movements decreased by 4.5% in December 2010 year on year (with -5.6% at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and -2.1% at Paris-Orly). In December 2010, the passenger load factor stood at 74.3% compared to 73.9% in December 2009.
