The Group also acquired in 2007 the Atacadão Cash & Carry chain, which has become the market leader with 93 stores spread across the country.

Charles Desmartis, 56 years old, has been in charge of Group Financial Control since 2011. He graduated from France's Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) and Stanford University. He began his career at the French-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo and speaks fluent Portuguese. He spent twelve years at Schlumberger in Financial Control functions in Brussels, Berlin, Barcelona and Paris, before being Chief Financial Officer of Axalto, Gemalto and Europcar.
