TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

SSE plc (the "Company") announces that on 11 December 2019 it purchased for cancellation a total of 15,969 Ordinary Shares of nominal value £0.50 each in the capital of the Company.  The purchases were carried out on behalf of the Company by Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Limited, who have been engaged to manage part of the Company's share buyback programme as announced on 30 September 2019.

Highest Price Per Share	1,300.00 pence
Lowest Price Per Share	1,298.50 pence

These share purchases form part of the Company's discretionary share buyback programme made in accordance with the authority granted by shareholders at SSE's Annual General Meeting on 18 July 2019 and Chapter 12 of the Listing Rules.  Any acquisitions will be effected within certain pre-set parameters.
