senseFly brings next-generation rotary UAVs to life at CES 2015 (Parrot stand, South Hall 3)
International CES, Las Vegas, January 6, 2015 - Swiss drone maker senseFly today premiers its forthcoming eXom drone, a uniquely sensor-rich UAS for professional users.
Developed with input from experts working in all fields of robotics, the eXom is a light, safe and highly intelligent quadcopter, a fully automated system that offers professionals such as civil engineers and surveyors the situational awareness they require to perform inspections and close mapping projects safely and accurately.
eXom features a plethora of integrated sensors. Its five vision sensors allow the operator to see in the direction the drone is moving $-$ automatically and without needing to turn the system's main camera head. This technology, unique in such a light-weight UAS, is similar to the visual parking displays in modern cars, only brought into a 3D flight environment. In order to enhance its closeoperation capabilities, eXom also features five ultrasonic proximity sensors. These work in harmony with its visual sensors to ensure the operator always knows the drone's distance from nearby objects. Plus, the drone's shock-absorbent carbon fiber shrouding is also on hand to protect eXom's rotors in case of surface contact.
In another first for a civil drone system, the eXom's autopilot-controlled TripleView head allows a user to view and record any type of imagery they require - HD video, ultra high-resolution stills, thermal data, or all of the above. All without needing to land in order to swap cameras.
Since its camera head faces the front, eXom can fly up close to target structures for sub-millimetre data resolution. The design of eXom's airframe and its head's 270° vertical field of view also mean eXom can document objects directly above it; crucial for challenging tasks such as inspecting under bridges.
eXom's unparalleled level of sensory intelligence means it can be easily controlled, even in the most demanding situations (e.g. approaching a high object located hundreds of metres away) – without the need for a remote control or piloting skills.
Simply choose eXom's flight mode:
With so many unique features built into one safe, robust platform, senseFly is pioneering innovation in the civil drone field. "We designed eXom to be unlike any other rotary drone system," said Jean-Christophe Zufferey, CEO and co-founder of senseFly. "We created an integrated imaging platform, rather than simply a remote-controlled aircraft with cameras attached. And because this platform's sensors provide such full environmental awareness, our professional customers can focus on their work, not on flying."

Parrot reveals a new concept of wireless and connected intra-auricular headset built for sport: the Zik Sport! Designed by Philippe Starck, this headset is full of sensors. It analyzes the physical effort carried out and guides the athlete in the optimization of their performance via a dedicated application.
With its patented headband design, the Parrot Zik Sport offers to the user optimal comfort and maintenance, whatever the intensity of their physical activity.
Thanks to the dedicated application Parrot Zik Sport for Smartphones and tablets, the athlete can access many settings such as the adaptive noise cancellation which allows a gradual insulation against the surrounding noises.
When jogging outside, for example, the runner can listen to music - with a remarkable sound of 32bits DSP- and activate the "street mode" in order to hear the surrounding noise of the street.
Thanks to its intra-auricular biometric sensors, Parrot Zik Sport measures the heart rate of the runner and analyzes, via the application, the style of run: ground contact time, cadence and vertical oscillation.
Equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 technology, the Parrot Zik Sport will be compatible with the Smartphones and tablets of last generation.
NB. Parrot Music Sport will be compatible with the majority of existing sport applications.

Parrot pursues its 'eco-geek' category with Parrot Pot and Parrot H2O, the second generation of smart and connected solutions that guide us in the maintenance of our plants and help us thanks to their autonomous watering systems.
Parrot Pot and Parrot H2O are both equipped with sensors that monitor the different parameters critical to plant growth: soil moisture, fertilizer, ambient temperature and light.
Every 15 minutes, Parrot Pot and Parrot H2O record the data and then, send it via Bluetooth Smart to the mobile device (Smartphone or tablet) in close proximity and equipped with the Flower Power1 free application.
Available in real time via graphs, data is transmitted to the 'Parrot Cloud' for analysis by algorithms'.
This analysis enables you to know the condition of the plant and to receive short-term predictions regarding necessary actions.
Ultra-reliable, Parrot Pot and Parrot H2O are also taking care of the watering of your plants, autonomously, in delivering them the exact quantity they need.
Equipped with a 2L water reserve and with a 4 separate spouts irrigation system, the Parrot Pot determines the most efficient irrigation schedule for the plant and delivers homogeneously the right level of water.
Below a critical level, the Flower Power Pot will automatically switch to a water conservation protocol that preserves the life of your plant while using the absolute minimum water possible until you can fill the tank back up.
Parrot $H2O$ positions close to a plant and transforms any type of screw-top bottle from 0.5L to 2L into a refillable water reservoir, offering up to 3 weeks autonomous watering. The quantity of water delivered is adapted to the needs of the plant it is associated to.
1 Requires Internet connection
1The Flower Power application gives access to a library of more than 8.000 plants informed by French, Dutch and American botanists and scientists (the laboratories of Wageningen University in The Netherlands; the Center of Urban Horticulture at Washington University; the greenhouses of Agrocampus Ouest in Angers, France).
