BOARD CHANGE

Thermal energy management and niche pumping specialist, Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, announces that Jay Whalen, President, Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG), and Executive Director, has informed the Board that he wishes to retire after over 28 years of service.  Jay will retire from WMFTG and the Board on 31st December 2019. 

Jay joined the Group in 1991 as President of Watson-Marlow Inc. in the USA and was named Sales and Marketing Director of the global Watson-Marlow pump business in 2002.  In August 2010 he was appointed President of WMFTG and in March 2012 he was appointed to the Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc Board.

The selection process for the next Managing Director of WMFTG is progressing well and we have started looking at both internal and external candidates.  Following the appointment, there will be a handover period between Jay and his successor to achieve an orderly transition for the business.  Jay's successor in WMFTG will not become an Executive Director of the Group and the composition of the Board will return to nine members as of 1st January 2020 of whom six will be Non-Executive Directors. 

Commenting on Jay's retirement, Jamie Pike, Chair, said:
