Involuntary manslaughter case - court of first instance decision - re-judgement

In the file where OMV Petrom SA was accused of involuntary manslaughter and was sent to trial, in re-judgement, the court of first instance - Ploiesti Court found the company guilty for committing the crime of involuntary manslaughter. The company was convicted to a punishment of a criminal fine amounting to RON 1,000,000 (250 days of fine, the amount corresponding to a day of fine being of RON 4,000). On the civil side of the criminal file, the company was obliged to pay moral damages in total amount of EUR 250,000 to the victim's family.

The decision is not final. The company will file an appeal against the decision.

The accusation is referring to an incident, which occurred near one of the company's wells located in Aricestii Rahtivani in Prahova County, where the victim was found dead.
