Schroder Asian Total Return Investment Company plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah MacAulay as a non-executive Director of the Company, with effect from 2 March 2018.

Ms MacAulay is a non-executive director of JPMorgan Multi-Asset Trust plc and Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust plc.  She is also a Trustee of Glendower School Trust, an educational charitable Trust.  She was formerly a director of Baring Asset Management (Asia) Ltd and head of Asian equities at Kleinwort Benson Investment Management and Eagle Star Investment Management.

It is confirmed that there are no other details to be disclosed concerning Ms MacAulay under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R.

At the date of this announcement, Ms MacAulay had no interests in the Company's issued share capital.

Ms MacAulay's election as a Director will be proposed at the Company's forthcoming Annual General Meeting.
