Magyar Telekom won further tenders at the Gigabit Hungary Program

Budapest – December 17, 2025 – Magyar Telekom (Reuters: MTEL.BU and Bloomberg: MTELEKOM HB, hereinafter the "Company"), the leading Hungarian telecommunications service provider, hereby announces that it has won the tender in further 12 districts, gaining ca. HUF 6,82 bn subsidy in the Gigabit Hungary subsidy program. With this, the Company's gigabit fixed network can be expanded to an additional 38 thousand access points with currently no fiber network coverage.

The Hungarian State has announced a tender in the framework of the Gigabit Hungary Program in July 2025 for the roll-out of fiber networks to areas where such network is not yet available. The aim of the tender is to ensure coverage for ca. 600 thousand access points, currently without fiber network access in all the 174 districts of Hungary (with the exception of Budapest) with the use of financing from European Union funds.

During the second phase, decision was reached with regards to 53 districts, thus in the two phases in total results were reached in 141 districts. In the two phases, Magyar Telekom was the winning bidder in a total of 41 districts, gaining ca. HUF 20,32 billion non-refundable subsidy, enabling fiber roll-out to ca. 118 thousand access points by the end of 2028.
