Description
United States 12 Month Oil Fund, LP (USL) is an exchange-traded security designed to track the daily price movements of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) light, sweet crude oil. The fund's investment objective is for the daily percentage changes of its net asset value (NAV) to reflect the changes in the price of WTI crude oil. USL achieves this by tracking a benchmark composed of the equally-weighted average price of 12 consecutive months of NYMEX crude oil futures contracts. This strategy aims to mitigate certain risks associated with rolling near-month futures. USL invests primarily in these crude oil futures contracts, as well as other oil-related forwards and swaps. These investments are collateralized by cash, cash equivalents, and short-term U.S. government obligations. Commencing operations in December 2007, the fund is managed by its general partner, United States Commodity Funds LLC (USCF).
