The best indicator of the economic strength of the Hamburg metropolitan region is the HASPAX, the share index of the Hamburg Stock Exchange and Hamburger Sparkasse. It comprises - updated annually - the largest listed stock corporations in the metropolitan region and has been calculated since 1996.

The attractive mix of traditional local companies and newcomers reflects Hamburg's industry mix and provides information on current changes within the regional economic structure.
