The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– The global economic slowdown had an increasing impact on ThyssenKrupps performance in the 3rd quarter of 2000/2001, reflected particularly in earnings: – At 374 million euros income before taxes and minority interest in the 3rd quarter was 34 million euros lower than the prior-year period. Without the proceeds from the sale of the iron ore mine Ferteco, earnings in the quarter amount to 44 million euros. In the first nine months of 2000/2001 income before taxes and minority interest improved 57 million euros to 832 million euros. – 3rd quarter earnings per share were 0.52 euros (prior-year period 0.40 euros), eliminating non-recurring effects 0.05 euros. In the first 9 months the figure was 1.13 euros (previous year 0.73 euros), eliminating non-recurring effects 0.40 euros. OUTLOOK ThyssenKrupp does not expect any improvement in the economic environment in the 4th quarter of 2000/2001. Nevertheless the Groups full-year sales will match the prior-year level. However, owing to the weak economic conditions it will not be possible to repeat last years pre-tax earnings, even taking into account non- recurring effects. Due to non-recurring tax effects net income will be higher than the year before.
