Sweco acquires energy consulting company in Bulgaria

Sweco continues to expand in central Europe by acquiring the Bulgarian energy and environmental consulting company, Energoproekt Hydropower ltd., with more than 80 employees.

Energoproekt is Bulgaria's leading consultation company within hydropower and also offers qualified consultation services within water and environment.

"Through the acquisition we are strengthening our position in a market that is having strong growth. We are also creating conditions for continued growth in Bulgaria and in neighbouring Balkan countries," says Per Johansson, Managing Director of Sweco, Central and Eastern Europe.

After the acquisition, Sweco will have approximately 1,100 consultants in Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. The operation has grown substantially in recent years. Three years ago, Sweco had approximately 100 employees in Central and Eastern Europe.
