Appointment of Mr David Rose as Chief Operating Officer

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Rose as the new Chief Operating Officer of St Barbara to take effect from 7 September 2009.

Mr Rose is an experienced Mining Executive with 25 years of industry experience having held senior positions in Western Mining, CRA, Pasminco and Rio Tinto. He is a Mining Engineer with a First Class Honours degree from the University of Queensland, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Oxford where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.

I thank Mr Martin Reed, the outgoing Chief Operating Officer, for his service at St Barbara and welcome Mr David Rose to the Company.
