Softing – now a premium member of AUTOSAR
Corporate-news announcement sent by DGAP. The sender is solely responsible for the contents of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Softing – now a premium member of AUTOSAR As a new premium member of the initiative AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture), Softing will be contributing its long-term expertise for software modules in diagnostics, communication and flash programming to the partnership. For a long time now, Softing has supported the definition of standardized, open interfaces in various national and international committees. “AUTOSAR is very much part of our strategy of providing technologies based on standard interfaces,” says Chairman of the Board, Dr. Trier. “AUTOSAR will play a major role in mastering future tasks in automotive electronics. The complexity of vehicle electronics development will thus be considerably reduced. Which means direct benefit for Softing customers.” The automobile manufacturers BMW, DaimlerChrysler and Volkswagen, together with the suppliers Bosch, Continental and Siemens VDO, joined forces to form AUTOSAR to establish a new, open standard for electronics architectures. The worldwide initiative – which now also includes Toyota, Ford and PSA as core partners – will define standardized function interfaces and basic software modules. There are no limits to the swapping and reusing of these base modules between vehicle manufacturers and ECU providers. This is why ECU manufacturers can make these modules available to all customers and for all platforms thus lowering both the risks and the effort involved in development as well as minimizing the number of ECU variants. Vehicle manufacturers thus no longer have to spend time adapting basic functions and functional interfaces and can instead concentrate on developing electronic innovations. end of message, (c)DGAP 19.05.2004 ——————————————————————————– WKN: 517800; ISIN: DE0005178008; Index: Listed: Geregelter Markt in Frankfurt (Prime Standard); Freiverkehr in Berlin- Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, München und Stuttgart 190800 Mai 04
